Italy Better than Britain? Your Thoughts?

I came across this article in the Times which shows the "Berlusconi paper" stating that Italy is better than Britain in every way.

However, it comes to mind that they missed out some important factors.

What are your thoughts on this.

Italy doesn't have Yorkshire. :yep:
I am partial to both

Don't particularly like the Italian political/justice systems - they're even worse than ours, lol.
Possibly some truth in it.

Care to share the important factors they missed out?

And tbh, I would rather live in Italy than Britain.

Well look at the economy's.

Although theirs is more stable at the moment, ours is still larger.

And the defence. I would imagine we have a stronger and better trained army, despite the lack of funding.

I wish Gordon Brown hired politicans based on looks and their willingness to sleep with him - that's how to run a country.

Better quality of life, no doubt.

Oh yeah!

And plus I don't think he can really say that without spending time in both countries to see what its like...

They make good food as well. But we have the education system, 4th in recent olympics and central London and red buses.

I'm sorry, but no. Italy hasn't been better than Britain since the fall of the Romans. As patriotic as I am, I can recoginse that there are arguments for Germany - and even France - being better than Britain, but Italy? No way, that's just taking the piss.

Higher GDP, better universities, fairer legal system, we don't have dicks like Berlusconi for politicians (yes, he's worse than Brown), better music, London, Aston Martin, better literature, Somerset, we are just better.

I'm half italian, Italy, is shocking in places. I stay about 45 minutes south of Rome, near Cassino in the mountains with my family every year.

The lifestyle of italian farmers is so simple its unbelivable, but they are happy, and they enjoy it. What shocked me, was that in a town like Cassino, which is pretty damn big.

There is no hot water at the hospital after 8pm.

How can any country say they are better then England in any way, when the hospitals are in a state like that, in another case, in the same hospital, a baby died after being strangled by it's umbilical cord, now many babies are born, and have the cord round their neck, but it's a simple procedure to cut it if you are an experienced doctor. However at the time, there was no skilled doctor around that could cut the cord, and as a result the baby died.

I love Italy, but the difference in the quality of life deteriorates the further south you go in many cases, untill they fix up their hospitals, England is better in my eyes, unless you talk weather...
Not to mention this creepy policy Italy have on immigration:

Italy is also economically behind us, has an inferior military to us etc - there is no way that Italy is better than the UK, its a bit of a joke to suggest that really.
I'm surprised anyone's still listening to the blithering idiot that is Berlusconi. If he was the head of government in any other country he'd have been kicked out on his arse years ago. Why the Italians put up with him is anyone's guess.
He has a nerve to say all that stuff about our press, when he literally owns Italy's.

Why when you don't have a clue would you just make things up?

They have a better quality of life, a very rich and impressive history (like the UK) and many amazing sights.

Who cares about military? Tell it to the poor sods waiting for operations or in comp schools.

ditto. I'm italian and I have been living here for almost 20 years. There are a some nice things about Italy (history, food, climate..) but that's pretty much it.
