I have to arrange a work experience placement for year 11 soon, I was wondering what are some examples of good jobs? I'm interested in journalism. I was also wondering how I should ask for the job, do I email? Also, should I bother presenting to them my year 9 SATs?

email, and go there personally. go earlier though, as most decent places will be taken. your sats wont be really needed

You could try and get a placement at a local paper? It might be worth telling them your SATs results (GCSE predicted grades would be a lot better though - employers might not have heard of SATs but they will have heard of GCSEs). However, I wouldn't think that they'd place too much importance on them. To organise my work experience placement, I phoned so that it seemed just a little more personal. I then had to actually go in and see them just for a 'mini interview' sort of thing.

For my work experience I made no mention of grades - I just emailed loads of places and told them about why I wanted to do a placement there (it was at a software development company) and some other details about myself.

Let them know what GCSEs you are taking, research the company and Email/phone them, taking care to show that you have researched the business. Be enthusiastic!

Do what everyone else has said, but most importantly make sure you organise it early as placements in things such as journalism get snapped up very quickly! Don't leave it to the last minute!

IMO it would be better to post letters and say why you want to go there; what GCSEs you do; your future ambitions and why they should take you. Do it plenty of time in advanced and rather than using your sats use your predicted GCSE grades.

The sooner you do it the better.
