Ok, I really want to start making some music. I need a free music making software package good for making dance/house/dubstep music.

    Any suggestions?

Without a shadow of a doubt Reaper. You can get yourself lots of free plugins from KVR.

    Audacity?
:eek3: can't believe they've started charging for it.

Reaper 2.5 however is definitely free: http://www.reaper.fm/files/2.x/reaper25-install.exe

it would be quite a task making music in audacity, audacity is good for recording samples off spotify though!

Ableton Lite is quite useful, not 100% sure if it's free I got a free copy with some equipment I bought once that I gave to a friend because I already have a legal version of the full Ableton.
