    Hey,

How does the tutoring system for the History and Politics degree work at Oxford; for example do some tutors teach PPE'ists as well as History and Politics students?

I ask this because at Brasenose College, where i plan to apply, there are no tutors specialising in History and Politics students. So would I be tutored by a Politics/PPE Professor (such as world famous theorist Vernon Bogdanor).

I know it's an odd question, but I would appreciate all replies greatly.

    Thanks :yep:

Id be fairly certain youd get the same professor as the ppe-ists. Especially if you are doing the same module.

It's done by module. So for the politics bits you'd share a tutor with PPE students doing the same material, and for history bits you'd be with other history students. You don't just have one tutor for your course. In my first year I had 5.

Bear in mind, with joint schools like Hist/Pol often the tutors don't talk to one another. So you may find yourself being forced to go 3 essays/week one term and 1 essay/week another if you don't ensure an even spread of workload. With joint schools, the rule is speak up.

This is directly from experience. I did two modules that bogdanor teaches, and he really is a legend. Though his opinion is fact - remembering this takes may help you a lot . I hear he was not a fan of David Cameron when he was there - well that's what Cameron said when asked about it.
