I had to spend the last year just basically talking to my boyfriend rather than doing anything else whilst he was studying in France. The occasional visits - I MEAN occasional, like every 3-4 months - meant that it was really special to see him, and I appreciated it that much more. We've been together a year now, and I don't think we would have lasted if we'd just been having sex ALL the time, cos it just wrecks the relationship.

    Yes, it does.

As for long-distance... I've seen some pretty serious ones fall apart, so I don't really believe in LDRs at all.

Not necessarily. I know a couple (not long distance) who are nearly a year's anniversary and not a hint of "sexual intimacy". I assume they're both at least relatively happy, they've stuck together through some tough patches.

No, a relationship does not need sexual intimacy to remain strong and to last for a lengthy period of time. It really does not.

yes cos otherwise it just feels like a platonic/flirty relationship that you'd have with a mate...

Yes I feel very strongly about this as someone whos past relationship ended because of a total lack of sexual imitimacy. There was the emotional closeness, but it just wasn't enough, we were close like best friends or brother and sister. Now Im in a relationship with sexual intimacy like ive never experienced before, I can't even describe how amazing it is and because of this we're closer and our relationship is better in every other way
