I'm bored, here are 20 things I would like done to make the UK great again - though obviously not everybody will agree with all of these things:

    1. Leave the EU, which would oppose a lot of the following list, and which would overrule many of the laws I'd want in place for the people of the UK. At the very least, give people a referendum on whether to be in the EU!

    2. Adopt a more passive foreign policy, end the wars in the middle east and do not attack anybody unless they are a REAL threat to our nation. Remember people that tyranny is not only caused by bad people, but also good people who tolerate the initiation of force on their behalf - say no to the government initiating force on your behalf!

    3. Portugal may have decriminalised all drugs already, but we can be the first in the modern western world to fully legalise all drugs!

    4. Embrace total freedom of speech: no matter how hateful the message. If the BNP want to have a rally in the centre of town, let them. If people want to draw a picture of Mohammad, they should - we should not give into terrorism!

    5. Embrace total freedom of worship, which to be fair we pretty much do already! Let athiests, muslims, christians and others live side by side and cooperate with one another.

    6. However - keep religion out of politics! Religious values have no place in politics when that religion is not universally accepted, and even within the religion there may be conflicts of interpretation anyway.

    7. Embrace free trade with the whole world, and abolish all tariffs, quotas and so called "fair trade" laws! Our current restrictions on trade are an insult to capitalist ideology and harm people in third world countries.

    8. End corporate donations to political parties, politics should not be run by the interests of huge corporations!

    9. Change our national anthem, just because it's crap and nobody really cares about the queen anymore anyway. Change it to Jerusalem or something, or have a vote on it!

    10. Show the world how tolerant we are as a nation by treating paedophelia as a mental issue and a sexual prefrence that can't necessarily be helped. Of course once somebody harms a child they deserve to be punished severly, but a compassionate society must place more emphasis on accepting the concept of paedophelia and trying to help these people rather than lynch them. That kind of barbarism was once directed to homosexuals, and that was wrong too!

    11. An end to government bailouts of business which compromises the ideology of capitalism and also means that the people are forced into funding a business that has clearly made bad decisions in the past. If YOU want to fund a failing business, be my guest, but don't bloody force me into it.

    12. Greatly reduce taxes and regulations on business which can be afforded by the corporate giant but not by the little guy. Allow more competition on the market which will drive prices down and raise the quality of servises and goods provided, as well as giving the people of Britain more choice.

    13. An end to social welfare being a lifetyle choice, benefits only for those who cannot work because of diability etc, place an emphasis on self ownership and self responsibility instead of people expected to be propped up by the state (i.e. by other peoples tax money.)

    14. An end to council estates, condensing the lowest class into one area is not beneficial to them and is not beneficial to society either.

    15. A referendum on any political issue which the public feels strongly about and can attain enough petitions for. The government must NOT act against the wishes of the people, it does not know best.

    16. Dismantle the big brother state - reducing CCTV, abolishing all plans for ID cards once and for all, destroying the DNA database of the people, no phone tapping, no controls over the internet.

    17. Gay adoption to be allowed and civil partnerships to give all the same benefits of a legal marriage (but I see no need to actually allow gay marriage because it would offend so many religious people.)

    18. An emphasis on choice in school and also in home schooling, and a preferance towards multiple points of view at all times e.g. teaching both evolution and creationism; teaching about various religions, teaching about various political prespectives etc

    19. A shift away from drinking culture and moving more towards a marijuana culture (or not doing anything, if weed is not for you) - not the strong stuff that knocks you out, but the nice 1960's stuff that makes people sit around and questions things like war and materialism. While we're on that subject ...

    20. A move away from materialism as a big goal in society. This shouldn't be enforced in anyway of course, people can be materialistic if they like. But overall I want to see less people caring about fancy cars, mobile phones and clothes and instead focus on love, friendship, peace and happiness!

only joking i agree with almost every point except the moving more towards hippie stuff, we need to move away from alcohol abuse not from alcohol full stop imo, everyone can enjoy a few pints at a pub.

I disagree. Thats the American policy that 'Great' implies having the biggest amount of power, bigger is always better with everything. i.e. whacking a 7 litre engine in a saloon makes it a super car. As I said before, quality over quantity. I'm not denying yeah ok, when it comes down to it if you're talking in a military sense, sure they could bully us as they have a greater population (not that it matters these days with nuclear warefare), but I don't think that makes a country 'Great'.
Doesn't help your argument when the only super power left is America itself

Oh I fully support the legalisation of alcohol, obviously. I just think that if we could get over the lies of government to justify their current drug policy and people based their opinions on drugs on their actual harm people might be more willing to have a drug of choice that is something else besides alcohol - and I happen to prefer people when they've smoked a joint, drunks are just aggressive and stupid, really.

I don't believe in dictating peoples lives or telling people what to do, though. If everyone in the world except me wants to get drunk instead of high, so be it. I'm just saying in an ideal world that's how culture would change, I think we would be a more tolerant, happy and peaceful nation! (LSD and MDMA is good too, hence the screename.)

And I said we'd vote on the anthem, there would be an option to keep the current one! :p:

i couldnt agree more ive been to nights where the majority of people are buying water instead of alcohol, if you get my drift, and they are always alot more freindly people will just come up to you shake your hand and say sound or whatever. compare this with nightclubs where the majority are drunk and will start on you its obvious which is a better place to be.
also drugs are more harmful illegal that legal, before we get the "you take any drugs and you will die"

I agree 100% with every one of these.

What are your views in regards to the current political system? Do you feel it needs to be radically changed?

I would like to see a constitution for free speech etc leaving the EU like I said previously, and more emphasis on decentralised local governments.

A change of the voting system to the single transferable vote system; to end the monopoly of lib/lab/con and allow socialists, greens, libertarians, nationalists etc to have a real and proper voice.

I'm also pretty big on the concept on referendums, you may have noticed, we need more of those! :p:

While I don't personally like guns, I think its a fundamental right for adults of a sound mind, and I don't believe the government has the authority to tell people they shouldn't own them.

You can't make Britain great again. The world has changed. The world no longer consists of a few strong Western countries, and the rest of the world which are easy pickings.

Lets concentrate on having a high standard of living. Not on arrogant and selfish notions of "nationalism". Nations are just groups of people. It doesn't matter how "great" your nation is if it comes at cost for that nation's people.

Im going to sound awfully daily mail here but I think that something should be done in response to the lack of marriages and rise in divorces. This is not saying that I think people in extreme circumstances should stay together but I wonder how many marriages would still be together if they endured a rough patch or two :/ The fact that every soap on the television seems to show relationships as a temporary thing doesnt help oh and that cheating is acceptable This just influences the Jeremy Kyle watchers with the idea that if you get in a marriage you will have a divorce!

...im sure someone will disagree whole heartedly with this

The only way to make a country great again is to make it a military super power.
Theres no way we could ever have the world's largest army, unless we resume the Empire :coma: (i wish!), but we could have the world's most effective and disciplined, a la Teutonic Order of old. It would feel good to know that a much larger enemy could be afraid of us.

    Re-introduce the death penalty.

Why should I be paying tax to keep someone alive if he's blatantly raped and/or murdered someone?

Show these cowards that you can't go around raping and killing, or else the same will happen to you.

The death sentence for rape? Surely that has an inherant flaw:

Suppose I just raped somebody ... under your law I deserve to be killed by the state now. So why would I keep a witness, surely I might as well murder them if my sentence would be no more severe?

Incidently I oppose capital punishment at all, but applying it to rape just seems especially flawed.

Well sometimes rape is worse than murder, but I understand what you're saying, however I didn't imply that one should be killed because of rape, I was just exaggerating the offences caused by most thugs among our society.
