If you rep someone do you lose your own rep points?

I rep when I see a post that merits it (for good or bad) - I rep a few times per week.

This. I think people are likely to rep you more for posts that they disagree with then those that are actually sensible so the rep system is really a poor gauge of a user (and in my view an annoyance).

What is reps actual point anyway?
I completely agree. I annoyed a few iPhone fanboys once, and I've ended up with negative rep.

Personally, I don't rep. There's no point in the system.

I hardly ever do it - my reps worth hardly anything so it seems quite pointless!

I shall for now be repping every day for the forseeable future, with my signature and all... (not a hint, honest)

It's like an excuse to not be taken seriously, if you are in the neg. I bet people are scared to neg subs, because they can see who neg repped them and neg back. :yep:

If a post is helpful/funny/nice I will usually rep it because they deserve it, but my rep power is about 2 points so I don't rep routinely.

Don't really neg often either as there is even less point (literally) and the offending post is usually a troll who wants you to neg them, and you should never give into trolls. :p:

Just voted . Such a lovely name and from a great county in Ireland :woo:

I only rep when I either like the thread or when someone posts are funny or helpful. I recently gave my first neg rep....a good - 30 points went to that particular member.
