I have a first name and a surname and I wanted to get a middle name [have parents permission]. I am 16 years old. How do I get a middle name?

Also, any charges/fees for this? How long will it take for me to get a middle name? Any rules/guidelines etc.?

    Thanks

I thought middle names were something you were given at birth? Or do you mean that you want to change your name by deed poll? If so http://www.ukdps.co.uk/AddingAMiddleName.html not sure how much it costs, sure it will tell you on there somewhere.

I thought you could just give yourself a middle name and start using it, as long as it's not for fraud etc. Obviously you won't get it on your passport etc without Deed Poll, but banks and things like that probably wouldn't care when you setup new accounts (changing old accounts without "proof" might be a problem though). But as it's not a first/last name most places won't even notice or check the difference between that and what you were using before (i.e. nothing)

Bearing in mind that "proof" in most cases (government organisations can get funny about it) is just paper signed by you and a witness (or is it 2 witnesses?). Either way you don’t have to pay these specialist companies. I was going to do it, but can’t think of what to change my name to.

Do Emily or Alexandra appeal to you? You may have one if you like.

Don't pay for it. To get a name you just need to start calling yourself by it, there's no legal way as such to change your name. You can start using this name on forms etc. if you want.

To change your passport or driving licence name, you need to make it public you're changing your name, usually with a notice in the local paper. Then you will need witnesses to sign a form to show the passport agency or DVLA.

This is for forenames and surnames, it may be slightly less official for middle names.

Just don't get Louise. Half the people in my life have that middle name.

    Get Danger, or something.

Why do you want one? I've never thought of giving myself one.
