It was In C2 today. Is it just a tan x graph with all points half the distance from the y axis?

yup, the x coordinates are divided by 2

oh dear, messed up on that then

what the hell?? how can u mess up on that?

I really hate these core maths exams, they are so piss easy and 60% of people got As in january.
C1-C4 is a bit stupid. They have certainly made it easier by covering less ground. I can say this as i've done A level maths when it used to be P1-P3 plus 3 applied units, pre-2000 syllabus and am now studying the new syllabus. Back then you sat two-3hour exams in June of your final year and thats it, you're A level done. If you had a bad day you were screwed. So it was not only more work, but also tougher exams.

You can now even get away by only doing the basic applied modules i.e. S1, M1. I'm going through M1 right now and believe me, the books is soo thin and basic, you can get through it in a few weeks at a slow pace, no problems. M2 & M3 is where the real stuff began but you wont touch those unless you do Further'. S1 rehashes the GCSE stuff and throws in a little extra.

I didnt take my actual exams back then, had to leave school for other reasons. But i did lots of exams papers and an actual mock test (6 hours) under exam conditions and was on my way for an A. The current syllabus has been dumbed down to some extent imo.

Having said that, we shouldnt take shots at the current students, you can only do whats in front of you!

For AS level, my revision consisted of looking thru my textbook and a few past papers one day before the exam. I got an A, just scraped, but still an A. It goes to show how pathetic the exams are.

1/a

1/2 * x/1 = new coordinate

hope that helps

Now, now ...M1 and M2 are still the same!

the red are tan2x
the blue are tanx

I put tan 2x into an online graphic calculator, and it came up with a straight line of negative gradient going through the origin.

You just has the scale set wrong or something. It'd be best to have it at, say, -360 degrees to 360 degrees on the x axis and 10 to -10 on the y axis? y=tan 2x for the lower values of x probably does look something like a straight line.
Its just tanx but the period is now 90 degrees i.e the asymptotes will be at -45, 45, 135..., crosses x-axis at -90, 0, 90, 180 etc

MEI at least, M1 is arguably harder than M2. M2 is nice and clear cut, just 4 topics.

MEI is great syllabus
Sorry, but whats MEI?

BTW does anyone know where you can get C1-C4? I'm having to work through P-series atm because i cant get hold of them (well C1 anyway). I thought they'd be lots of them since they've been around for a year, but not a single shop online stocks them. Why is that? Is it worth buying them or just checking the syllabus for each module and going through them in the P-series?

MEI is a syllabus run by OCR and "Mathematics in Education and Industry". If they don't have any on their website or in the shops, you're a bit stuffed really...

What exam board are you doing?
Will be Edexcel. Heinemann's own website only has the revision guides available. You're own notes tend to be better so i'm not gonna waste my money.

Yeah sorry i heard of MEI syllabus, I thought you were referring to something else. Is that modular also? Whats you're preferred modules?
I'm great at mechanics but crap at Physics, i dont understand...I'm gonna have another go at it this year. In fact its not physics, just electricity... i hate electricity...
