This year, I was hoping to apply for Scottish unis:

    • St Andrews
    • Stirling
    • Napier
    • Abertay
    • Glasgow

AND do biology degrees. Stirling & Napier are the only unis which require 1 science at Higher (A level) for the biology courses. But the rest require 2 or more sciences...and I'll be doing the following subjects:

    • Higher English
    • Higher Biology
    • Higher Psychology
    • Higher History
    • Int 2 Maths

Since I'm going to college, they don't do higher chemistry there (well, the college I got into anyway...I got a conditional offer for the one I want to get into which does chemistry, so I'm just assuming the worst.) so I can only do that this year.

But, what if I apply this year, hopefully pass those and then next year I'll do Higher Chemistry, Maths & Physics...would they just reject me this year or give me a conditional offer for next year?

    Any help would be nice

Any offer you'd get this year would have to be fulfilled until 31st August 2009 so you wouldn't be able to hold an offer for 2011 entry if you don't finish your exams by that date. In that case you'd have to apply in next year's cycle.

Errrm I mean the 2010 cycle as my first year, 2011 as my second year

Sorry for not making that clear

    - Basically, would I get an conditional (say, B in Chemistry) that I have to meet in the 2011 cycle, or would they just reject me on the spot for not having another science?

Your referee should write in your reference that you are unable to pursue 2 sciences. Unis should then take that into account.

Also, have you checked that they don't consider psychology as your 2nd science? Some unis will.

Yep, none of them seem to accept it as a science

Is it possible for them to give conditionals for the next cycle?

    Sorry for the silly questions

No. Even if you apply for deferred entry, you still have to meet your offer by August 30th the year you apply (although this has been extended to sept 2nd this year).
