I'm doing Lord Of The Flies. I find that sometimes I'm in a certain mood where I can write really well about books and poems etc, and other times when I just look at the same question and go blank - I hope wednesday isn't one of those days :P

I'm doing To Kill a Mockingbird, which is fine  It's the poetry I'm more worried about.

Death of a Salesman, Old Man and the Sea, and War Poems. Easy A/A* it should be, because it is just about talking on and on about something. Worried about the poetry though.

So what are you confused about? I'll try and help ya both.
Themes, well the main ones are obviously loneliness and dreams. Hmm I really dont know what else they can ask us on. Probaly the language which Steinbeck uses which I reallllllllllly hope we don't get!

yep, the use of language is hardest thing for me. however even though the questions wont ask straight for the use of language, you would have to mention certain techniques structure of the play in order to gain higher marks

Structure, Theme and Language would be the 3 main factors i'd concentrate on in the exam. You have to know the techniques and explain them extensively to gain A/A* marks, and remember that if you do not know how to explain something well, dont explain it at all, otherwise you'll end up making a dog's dinner out of the exam trying to explain something and taking up time and effort writing about it. Move onto something else you do know. Keep your writing firm, accurate and structured and show off your understanding of the novel as well as you can. Try not to explain the entire story much, the examiner already knows the story, so it's no good you repeating it to him! Usually the questions on the Higher-Tier want you to go into much detail/depth and give the examiner insight onto what's going on and why the author is using such techniques in the chaper, or a certain quote. If the question focuses on dreams or loneliness (examples, it could be any theme) keep your writing always relevent to that theme and use as many quotes as you can to prove your work. Hope this helps.

Hmm the irony thing. I'm sure I remember my teacher telling me something ironic about what happened to Lennie. I'm just trying to remember lol. Argh this is so annoying I can't remember. Which bit aer you refering to which is ironic?

Also, how can you write about the structure in of mice and men? About how it's cyclican because it started off at salinas river and ended there or what?

And the language? What about that? How they use poor English...?
