Terrible Form

Lads,
I was down the gym today and this kid who's sleeping with my ex gf was down there.
Pride got the better of me so i picked up two 26kg dumbells and started curling them, groaning like a gimp on every rep. I then got my mate to spot me on a 115kg bench press of which i managed two reps with decent form and two more with my arms moving a centimetre.
Now i'm all up for pushing the body to its limits, eiter through a big lift or an intesnse drop set, but looking back at today it was cringeworthy. Even more importanltly, i've knackered my lower back. It's killing me to even walk. I know it'll go, i just need to rest it and lay off traing for a few days (could help revision).
I reminded myself of this bloke down my gym back home who we call hulk hogan and who everyone takes the piss out of for his absolutely rediculous form. He loads 25kg onto each end of a ez bar and curls it throwing his back into the air and almost ****ing himself round the face with thebar.
What's the most terrible form u guys have ever used, why did you do it and did it cause you any injuries.
If not, what's the stupidest thing you've ever seen macho tits like me do down the gym

i've never seen actual bodybuilders before... sounds interesting though... i bet there's loads of people who use weights incorrectly..

Weights is a private thing for me. I don't want to look like a royal gimp in a gym so I do them at home.

I never sacrifice form for weight, its just not worth it, for a start you're just not getting the benefit from the exercise, secondly you're quite likely to injur yourself - as has happened to you.

The only time my form suffer is during fatigue at the end of a set, for example on a barbell row I might not be pulling the weight in as far as I can due to fatigue etc. but thats not dangerous, just a sign that you're done with that set!

I was in a really bad mood doing leg weights. All I can say is at least you don't use your arms for walking. Could I walk? No. Could I drive? No. Did I look stupid? ....

in agreement with u all the way mate. just once in a blue moon like today i let modesty and good sense leave me and tried to show off. looked a complete tit and not in the least manacing. i mean though, surely you've tried to hit your 1RM on a bench before using a spotter.

Nah, I'm not particularly good at the 1RM business, so I just can never be bothered with them, I just use the progression I get from working sets as the my indicator! If I'm increasing the weight I'm lifting every week then I know I'm getting stronger so theres no need !

UPDATE: the lower back is fcuking killing. what an idiot i am. can't walk. went down to canteen and almost collapsed, hurts when getting up after lying/ sitting down. any ideas for recovery or should i just rest it for the next couple of days??

Rest it mate, see a doctor if it hurts more. There really is NO point doing two reps of something, at least ten is advantageous. You probably know that already.

8-12, i've know it since i was twelve. trouble is, logic goes out the window when pride gets in the way.

Id weights very briefly about 4 years ago, when I cared about such things. Now I've come to realise I'd look stupid with muscles.

well i'm looking forward to receiving my IFBB card. Seriously though, a decent powerlifting routine in the middle of a bulking season is a v. good way of gaining strength if done properly.

just like anything in life.

you don't see many lifters who do triples on big compound lifts who are that small.

arguing about reps is pointless, what works for one will be useless for the other.

I used to arch my back loads with curls on the last few reps.. I dont know why, I still have to force myself to stop doing it.
