A quarry! Everyone likes quarries!
Or a zoo, but only if it has penguins.

Night In, if you can get it. More likely to be yourself, and more likely for something fun to happen as your already in private :P. Plus I'm a messy eater, I like my food far too much.

Oo Chicken Wings on a first date, I just wanna do that see what happens.

defo a pub, not too formal and you can have a conversation, but equally you're not trapped if it all goes pear shaped.

Why? Are you going on one soon?

I would say it doesn't matter as long as it's somewhere you can talk. I think clubs are a really bad idea for dates, and for small groups in general really - I only have fun in clubs if I go with lots of other people. Pubs are ok, as long as it's not too crowded and it's not what one where you have to shout over the music. Night in can be alright, depending on where you live - if your parents are going to be home or something, that's rubbish!

I voted for pub because you can talk properly, whereas a meal puts more pressure on due to surroundings (I suppose it depends where you eat) and makes people more nervous (ie don't want to look a fatty by ordering too much, don't want to have a disaster by spilling wine or making a mess with food). Cinema, well you can't talk enough and 1st dates are about talking IMO.

Cinemas make sucky dates. I think ALL dates should be about talking... that or makin' (night in :P).... haha

So what do you all think?

Ice skating followed by a coffee  Preferably at Christmas, late in the afternoon so all the lights are on as it's getting dark. Light snow is always good too. It's the perfect opportunity to talk etc, and you can always pretend you can't ice skate so the guy will help you lol.

Read 'help you' as 'hold you' as you fake falling over into his arms :P ?

Something different that you both enjoy.(ie find a common hobby and do something that has to do with that...) hm...i suppose the restaurant is ok if you're into classic, but rather drab. Ooh..Ice skating! I love it. And you can pretend that you really suck and absolutely rely on them to keep you from falling... :p:

I'd never thought of a pub - what a good idea.

Because from a pub base, you can do tonnes like -go back to a house, go to a club, catch a movie, or if you don't get on, it's okay just to go back home seperately.

good thought there... lessthanthree all I ever see on your avatar is that damn panda's ass.... :/

I've voted for the Pub; a term I assume encompasses contemporary, trendy bars!

Go to the Trocadero in Piccadilly Circus if you're in London - it's a fun place and somewhere that your personality comes out moreso than in a pub/club/cinema. You can embarrass yourself on the bungee jump thing, get a fake tatoo, play 2p machines, get Millies cookies, have a drink, play arcade games... not normally my idea of fun really, but it's a great way to spend a first date. No pressure to make conversation all the time!
