Took the car to the local garage for its 120k cambelt and waterpump,
Turned out last time it was changed by a vw main dealer and they didn't bother to fit the full cambelt kit, which ment i was left with a worn away mount that needed replacing, as well as a ballbearing straight through the belt, luckily it didn't break!
Just wondering if would expect this from a dealer or not, surely they should fit the whole vw cambelt kit? Or has anyone had problems like this before?

Nice work dealer. I never trust them mate, better off with your local shop that you know and trust, or doing it yourself!

I'd expect that if my dog did the job, but not a VW main dealer.
I worked for VW for the best part of 4-5 years, and have never seen a VW main dealer bodge a job up like that.
You want to get onto that main dealer & tell them about it, and deffo take further action, if you can be arsed to do that.. (the head mechanic (or anyone in that depatment) would be able to figure out who did the work, or you still have the invoice in your service history?!).

vw suck. we have two golfs at work, both 08 plates. one of them has never been to a dealer, and has been fine... the other one went in for it's service and came back riddled with faults. it's had a lot of electrical faults, like the auto lights not going off when you get out of the car, and the hazard lights being stuck on and draining the battery. when we took it in for the hazard light problem, they told us there was nothing wrong with it!
