Say for example, I get a B in A level further maths, am I allowed to decline the A2 part and just take an A in AS further maths?

As far as I know they don't let you decline grades anymore, I remember my Politics teacher explaining this to me once.

It'd be great if others had something to say though to back this up or counter it, because I'm not 100% sure.

Yes, but I don't know why you'd want to.

Edit: You apparently can't decline grades anymore for A2 post 07...

Because, for me personally, an A in AS would work out better than a B in A2 for my uni apps.

You can't decline the grade anymore per se however you can choose to not cash it in (therefore not get a certificate after results day and not declare it on UCAS). All cashed in grades must be declared on UCAS ect even if you want to resit the modules :blah:

To get an A in AS further maths you must have taken all the modules and got them all "cashed in". The examination officer at your school may be able to help you.

If you get in contact with the exams officer they can make an ammendment to your exam entry (even now I think) and cancel the cash in.

Then just write down your AS grade; it's still there.

Hmm. Problem with contacting the exams officer is then I could potentially get an A at A2 and would be GUTTED (unlikely though).

And I start Deloitte in October.

The system of declining grades was effectively outlawed in Sept 2007- even at AS. So in short, no you cant.

Declining a grade will wipe out A level grade. AS level grade gets absorbed into A2.

You can still request a late cash-in up until the 20th September once you receive your unit results.
