were they what you expected them to be like?
No. She ditched me for someone else/**** haha! We never talked again... shame, cos we had some really nice chats and she seemed like she could be a great friend in the long run!

How long had you known them for?
A couple of months, went to a local school so we met up. What a disaster...

I met my boyfriend online been with him nearly two years now. The only thing that was different about him when we met in real life was that he was very shy but then so was I. Despite that we kissed about an hour after meeting in the pouring rain under a big wheel
I knew him for about 6 months before we met.

I have a very beautiful story about meeting a person in real life after meeting them online. She had a lot of poems in her journal on a social networking website and I kept commenting on them and telling her how well I can relate to her and that she sems a respectable teenager with whom I would have a lot to share.

I kept the whole thing virtual, until one day I receive this huge private message from her telling me how she thinks I'm special and interesting and arty and everything and that she'd love to have coffee with me once. Our high schools were opposite to each other and in the city centre, so we could meet in the city at a cafe.

I was nervous while waiting for her outside the coffee shop... then I see her in the distance... we say Hi, get in the coffee shop, get a seat.. and then we started talking about pretty much everything and anything.. we just naturaly felt comfortable with each other...

Then some other day we visited the Art Museum... personally I'm not into painting, but there you go, a chance for socialising. I gave her number to another friend of mine who i thought she'd get along really well with on a personal level, if you know what I mean. I had to leave the country though before our relationship got stronger. However, she did contact the guy I recomended and now they're a couple! I feel really good for that.

This is an interesting thread. I'm actually planning on meeting a guy I met online a few weeks ago. (We've talked on the phone, pictures, webcam.) It's quite surprising how many people have met online and had successful relationships.

I know I'll be a bit nervous before I see him because there's always a chance we may not like each other in 'real life,' but hopefully if we get on so well on the phone and online, we won't have too much trouble getting on in real life. Only predicament now is what to wear... :ahee:

Also quite funny how many people are embarrassed that they've met their partner online. Well, where else? Meeting someone in a club is lame...everyone is inebriated and it's just a meat market. So where else to look? The internet is usually second on the list. It shouldn't be so embarrassing...

I've met quite a few people, some of them I had known for a couple of months, some for years. I got along pretty well with most of them.

    I've only met one guy
But before him I always said I would never meet an online person but we came across each other and we were going to the same place for something - so said we should meet in person :P:

Only knew him for like 2 weeks - but spoke on msn and texted each other so I kinda knew a little about him - he was lovely in person! Lives in the same city as me so we might go on a night out together sometime!
I've known him for like a total of 3 weeks now though :P:

Haha hope it works out well for you! :p:
I think it makes a bit more sense to meet someone on the internet (even though I wouldn't wan't to try to look for my partner on the internet..I'm unlucky and would only like an murdering rapist... anywhoo ) because you get to know them and on a night out most guys are trying to look "cool" infront of their friends which is annoying :p:

Oh hanks hunah!! I'm so excited, I've never met anyone online before. He's just so good looking and we get on so well. I'd be gutted if we didn't get on in real life. Nervous! Eeep.

Ah you won't find a murdering rapist! You just have to really make sure they're real and then meet in a public place etc.

Some were better than I expected them to be, some worse.

I met my current boyfriend online. He lived about 10 minutes away so we met up after speaking to eachother for about 5 months. We've been together 2 years now and are inseperable..

I have no idea...I'd rather do something random, but he asked me what my favourite food was and then went all cryptic about why he asked, so I'm guessing an Italian restaurant. Just not gonna order spaghetti....
