    Hey all,

I did IB, so my place was confirmed by uni today on UCAS; but I want to take a gap year and reapply again. I've already emailed the uni that I want to take a gap year. Anything else I should do?

    Thanks.

So I don't have to go right, even though they confirmed a place? Sorry, just want to make sure.

Should I also email my insurance, and should I withdraw from UCAS altogether?

    Thanks.

YOU CAN'T HOLD A DEFERRED ENTRY AND THEN GO BEHIND THEIR BACK AND REAPPLY TO A DIFFERENT UNI ON UCAS IIRC

Yes, that's true, I'm not accepting an offer of deferred entry either.

As long as you tell your uni that you want to withdraw, and cancel your UCAS application you won't be expected to go.

However, I withdrew from York last year and they didn't update their records properly and kept sending me letters asking why I hadn't attended any lectures
