    What is ylod?
Similar to Xbox 360's Red Ring of Death (RROD), PS3 is Yellow Light of Death (YLOD).

    Simple, your console needs repaired.

    (Original post by Geoff's Blog)
The "Yellow Light of Death" (YLoD) is a major hardware failure of the older models of the PlayStation 3 that is caused by overheating of the console 90% of the time.

Thanks guys, but could you simply answer these questions for me?

Can I get a better deal than £131 for a PS3 by shopping around?

    and

Does the 160gb model have any advantages over the 60gb other than increased hard disk space?

    Thanks,

P.S: I may nowhere near ambitious enough to attempt taking my ps3 like that.

Second hand maybe... for another ~£70 you can get a PS3 Slim 120GB with the standard warranty.

As far as I know, no.

Obviously you won't be able to get a new one from elsewhere for £131, but you have to remember that the replacement they give you is not new either. It's quite likely that the one they give you will break down in the future too, plus they do not allow you to take out a warranty on the replacement console they provide.

If you're not going to take it apart and fix it, I highly recommend that you just buy a brand new console.

No, not new. Don't bother going second hand with a PS3 either.

Does the 160gb model have any advantages over the 60gb other than increased hard disk space?

    Thanks,
AFAIK it doesn't, apart from the space which you've already stated.

P.S: I may nowhere near ambitious enough to attempt taking my ps3 like that.
I got mine repaired by an independent shop for ~£80, then traded it in at Game (sorta got mine price matched with CeX for £150) and bought a 250gb with 3 years warranty for ~£270 (not including the trade in price I got) and for me it was a brilliant deal and I got 3 games too so it was pretty awesome
My old Ps3 was a 60gb oldie model one.

:sadnod: Top 1% of scores online in a week takes serious dedication, and trying to completing the game on Elite is nigh-impossible as well. They're the main reason I didn't get that platinum.

    :hahaha:
    You have no platinums :p:

Sorry I couldn't help that, most people on here have more platinums than I do cos I just play MW2 online and I cba with platinuming stuff. Unless it's an utterly fun game like RE5 or ACII.

Anyway, Bioshock 2 is proper good fun once you get into it, just remember...be nice!

I still haven't been online on Bioshock 2...probably cos I'm scared I'll suck.

I think it's probably a lot easier now to get the Top 1% ribbon though compared to when everyone was on the game.

Btw its your 6000th post! :woo:

Good point, though given that Elite won't have got any easier I'm not going to rush to attempt it again. :shifty:

I would probably have missed that milestone if you hadn't pointed it out... thanks! :yy: 7,500 is supposed to be my next 'target' though, I suppose! :p:

I did give it a chance, I completed the whole campaign, and got 55% of the trophies. It still sucked compared to previous games in the series! :facepalm2:
