I'm quite fond of Anesthesia (Pulling Teeth), which is a bass solo by Metallica.
Oh, and for best bass players, I'd say John Paul Jones, John Entwistle, Geddy Lee, Cliff Burton, Billy Sheehan, Steve Harris, etc.

Good choice, I liek how the drums enter halfway through and it gets more aggresive.

    Thanks for that.

But seriously Les Claypool, plays bass like a beast and sings ... AT THE SAME TIME.

    Martin Mendez.
    Man's a genius.

He's one of my favourites. Along with John Myung (Dream Theater, Liquid Tension Experiment), Tony Levin (King Crimson, Liquid Tension Experiment, etc), Franck Hermanny (Adagio)... and I can't think of others atm.

I like Geddy as a bassist... but I really can't stand his singing =[.

It's a shame. I absolutely love Rush if it wasn't for his voice haha.

    Haha.

Funnily enough, Testament is in your sig, and one of my favourite bass intros is the one for Souls of Black!

Wouldn't say they were the best, but some Red Hot Chili Peppers basslines are awesome, Longview by Green Day is forever getting stuck in my head and you can't forget Peaches by the Stranglers
