My mate works in a pig abattoir and gfave me a gammon joint, at least i think thats what it is. Its about a 1lb5 in weight. What would be the best way to cook it? Ive got mates coming for sunday lunch tomorrow so i thought i could serve it along side the chicken so there is more meat to go around. I was thinking a honey and mustard glaze and roast it with garlic but i don't know...

Also hoe long does it need cooking for?

Don't boil it then it tastes horrible, just put it in the oven for a couple of hours.

If you've got a slow-cooker, throw it in there with a little bit of water for a day. You pretty much end up steaming it instead of boiling it, and it turns out wonderfully tender.

I'm not sure how long you cook it for (not exactly sure, anyway - not offhand), and I'm most probaby late in saying this, but don't forget the cloves.

Yeha i did it with cloves. In the end i boiled it in water, cider, onion, carrot, garlic and cloves then baked it for half hour with a marmalade glaze
