I planned on passing my test last summer so bought what was the most up to date version then (07/08). However it never materialised so I'm doing it this summer instead. Can I still use this software to practise for my theory? Are the updates in the 2009 edition vital? Basically has the theory test changed since the 07/08 edition was released?

Not really no, I'm sure you'll be fine with the old one. It's all the same basic questions just the wording might have changed.

I used that one and I got 49/50 on questions and 57/75 on hazard - and I thought I was struggling, so no. Good luck!

I never used any of the available software. I just read the highway code through and answered using that and common sense. Any practicey stuff will help, I should think.

I used one that was already year old last year (same situation as you) and I passed. Also when I compared the questions on the CD to the questions in my mum's theory book there were a lot of repeated questions too
