Hi there. For years I've been conscious about the skin on my hands - its showing some kind of hyper pigmentation.. when compared to my arms or face say, they appear darker. And everybody notices, like someone asked me the other day what was up and that i should get it checked. I want to get it sorted, but my GP is abit insensitive.. so I'm afraid that if I go to him, he'll think I'm wasting his time over cosmetic issues. (its not really cosmetic if it affects me this much!)

But yeah, i came across the sk:n website, and they say they do free consultations. Are they a proper help for these kind of problems, or are they just commercial.. if you get what I mean. Will they be able to diagnose me- tell me what to do? Has anyone tried sk:n ?

As stated see your GP, if they are submissive about it all and think thats its not a problem, ask for a second opinion from a different doctor as you are well within your rights to, they will then be able to give you their opinion on you i would think can go with which ever you feel is more beneficial to yourself.

Oh, ha ha ha - hilarious you are. Hiding behind your PC like a silly little baby.

    Learn some respect. Or else.
Or else what? You'll use some of those uncreative nouns and adjectives to describe me? I also don't hide behind my PC, it would make viewing the screen awfully uncomfortable.

I had to check in the dictionary for the definition, and its a v. useful term indeed. I'll be adding it to my obviously limited vocab

And thanks everyone for the advice. I'll go ahead and make an appointment with my GP tomorow  he best not be dismissive (as per usual)

As with everyone else, go and see your GP, and if you are so worried about seeing him and thinking he'll be insensitive towards you, maybe you should consider changing your doctor. I have (though admittedly that was because he was so bad he misdiagnosed ringworm as eczema).
