Hi, I'm not leaving for a while away yet (next May-ish) but I just want to make sure I get the cheapest tickets I can get.

So basically I'm confused because I want to go away for a year (May 2010- May 2011) but you can only book flights up to 12 months in advance right? So I would basically have to book my whole RTW ticket a few days before I left?

Ahhh I'm confused! There must be a way around this?

You book the tickets but you can change the dates later I believe?

I booked my RTW ticket through FlightCentre, flying with Qantas and BA...had to put in 'dummy dates' for the latter part of my trip as it was more than 12 months away. When it was a few months before these 'dummy dates' I called Qantas and rearranged the dates to my actual ones for a fee of about £30? Obviously it depends on when your 'new' dates are, i.e. tomorrow, next week or in four months time etc. I actually rearranged them again a few months after that....I don't know the exact cost but I know it can't have been THAT much or I wouldn't have done it twice.

talk to STA, see what they say. like gemini89, you can usually reaarange the dates of later flights as and when you need
