Does anyone know what the relative competitiveness of Grad Accountancy Jobs are in terms of % applicants to job or its relative hardness to get into?

    Does this seem correct?

    Firms:
Big 4> Specialist (begbies for business recovery, some specialist London tax e.t.c > big 20 >smaller

    Location
    London>London Circular> Regional

    Service
    Corp Fin> Actuarial > Audit > Tax

    Is that about right?

big 4 have huge numbers of audit vacancies each year but are still competitive in terms of entry requirements. Smaller firms are likely to have a higher number of applicants per post inmo, but less strict application requirements. In terms of quality of applicants- big 4 will likely have higher at the top end, but there will still be big numbers of those who decide to go to a smaller firm out of choice and will stand out to employers- making it more difficult. I would say if you got the bits of paper to get past the first round at big 4 it is easier.

For the service line, I would put tax ahead of audit in terms of difficulty to get in, and actuarial on par with corp fin.

Most vacancies, yes, but probably the most applicants as well!
