I mean; In terms of their general standard of living, from best to worst:

    1. United States
    2. Canada
    3. Australia
    4. Israel
    5. Japan
    6. New Zealand
    7. Channel Islands
    8. Falkland Islands
    9. South Africa
    10. Britain
    11. All European countries
    12. Rest of World

That's pretty much how I'd put it.

The list is based on my opinion; taking into account things that I believe are important.

The HDI takes into account things like 'affordability of healthcare' but not 'quality of healthcare', which in my opinion is far more important. For this reason, the HDI favours Socialist countries that on the whole are not nice places to live.

I don't agree with South Africa's position. It really isn't above Britain (in fact I doubt it's in the top ten).

    USA first?
    Israel fourth?
    South Africa ninth?

Round of applause for this post!!

Also, don't forget that working-class American's standard of living would be considered middle-class in the UK.

Why on Earth is South Africa so high? Surely a country ravaged by an AIDS epidemic, among other things (crime would be too easy to jump upon), wouldn't be in the top ten?

The above ranking can only be described as idiotic, immature and indeed, uninformed.

    hope that helps

Taxes are even higher on the continent, if that is even possible.

    USA first?
It's still offers the most personal liberty in the world. I'm sorry, but it just does.

Plenty of land too; you can buy 20 acres in the some of the western states for the price of a new base-model Ford Focus in the UK

    no it doesn't

not that I think his list is right, many European countries have a much better standard of living than almost every country on that list.

But you have to state your opinion instead of just being not very useful.
