Ha that is so wrong! Our standard of living is much worse in terms, both economically in terms if purchasing power parity (meaning each american has far more goods than the comparative brit) and in terms of the Human Development Index.

Do some research before you spout such nonsense
America has a much larger problem with poverty though.

I'd put Belgium on this list.
The US shouldn't be first considering the amount of homeless people and having to pay for medical services etc.

Standard of living? Are you serious? USA first, I beg to differ. I'd say the european countries like Switzerland, Norway, Luxembourg, Denmark have the best standard of living. In asia it's probably Japan and Canada is definately better than USA.

    My list:
    1. Norway
    2. Switzerland
    3. Sweden
    4. Luxembourg
    5. Denmark
    6. Qatar
    7. Japan
    8. Canada
    9. Hong Kong
    10. UK

I'd put most european countries higher than where they are on your list

    1. Sweden
    2. Switzerland
    3. Netherlands
    4. Germany
    5. Canada
    6. France
    7. Japan
    8. Costa Rica
    9. UK
    10. South Korea

    ...just in my opinion.

    Doubtful to say the least.

I mean; In terms of their general standard of living, from best to worst:

    1. United States
    2. Canada
    3. Australia
    4. Israel
    5. Japan
    6. New Zealand
    7. Channel Islands
    8. Falkland Islands
    9. South Africa
    10. Britain
    11. All European countries
    12. Rest of World

That's pretty much how I'd put it.
The US, and Israel, in the top 4?!

Both are subject to where you live and what your circumstances are. The US has two different extremes of standards of living.

Not a lot, though — only about £1000 per person.

OP is short of a few marbles if he puts a country with a medieval healthcare system at the top of the list.

Providing that a major war isn't started relatively soon,

    1. Sweden
    2. Canada
    3. Australia
    4. Japan
    5. France
    6. Germany
    7. UK
    ...

I just graduated from the best public school in England, I am heading off to a top ten university in the United States, and I got a National scholarship for being in the best 2500 students in the US. In contrast you just put up a front of intellect and superiority that you cannot sustain - and you know it so you don't back up what you say with any facts.

I'd put Norway/Sweden first. They are really underrated countries which, in my opinion, are way ahead of everyone else.

I know — it's a bit surprising really. Of course, the many, many people who take almost no resources from the NHS at all are able to cover the costs of cancer patients, those having defibrillators fitted, etc.

I regard Norway very high too (it's one of the top in my list on earlier post), but I've just researched and it's capital Oslo is dubbed the 'rape capital of the world' :erm:

yeah but the 37 million live in poverty, and the fact you have to pay for health care, these may be even more that can't afford that
37 million is just over a tenth of the US population, therefore about 85% of Americans live in a condition better than the average UK living standard. Not to mention the fact that the UK has a poverty figure somewhere close to 10%.
