USA is definitely above Britain, the UK is over run with lazy benefit scum and chavs. Plus in general, houses are all disgusting, as are streets/roads and most other infrastructure, oh and don't even get me started on the joke that is the NHS. The only decent city in the UK is Central London.

Having said that, the way the US is going with this new **** of a president in charge it wont be long before USA is holding hands with the UK toward the bottom of the rankings.

    List should go like this:

    1) Monaco
    2) Switzerland
    3) Lichtenstein
    4) Bermuda
    5) Buenos Aires
    6) USA
    7) Germany
    8) Qatar
    9) Who cares?
    10) who cares?

And I've lived in Switzerland, the UK and the US. So yes, unlike most of you I have actually experienced living here rather than watching the OC and deciding YES! Winnar!

Although thinking about it US has the OC UK has Hollyoaks. That's pretty embarrassing. Looool

My judgement of quality of life focuses on these things:

    1) Size of houses
    2) Cost of living
    3) General population (UK does win here purely because Americans are beyond ignorant)
    4) Attractiveness
    5) Taxes

did you mean agentina in general?

In 2004 the UN said that Norway was the most desirable place to live but i don't know now. When i went everything was obscenely expensive even by their standards and from the people i know there is hardly any social mobility and as a result many people end up depressed.

I mean; In terms of their general standard of living, from best to worst:

    1. United States
    extreme wealth divide
    2. Canada
    3. Australia
    4. Israel
    war and fear of terror
    5. Japan
    stagant economy
    6. New Zealand
    gang problems
    7. Channel Islands
    8. Falkland Islands
    9. South Africa
    Crime, HIV and race issues
    10. Britain
wealth divide, war, fear of terror, stagnant economy, gang problems, crime and multicultural issues
    11. All European countries
    12. Rest of World

That's pretty much how I'd put it.
If i was rich in each country i would probably say

    United States
    Singapore
    Switzerland
    Malaysia
    China
    Russia
    The UK

    If i was poor

    Norway
    The UK
    Sweden
    any other EU welfare state

The graduation **** wasnt intended for you guys it was at the guy who declared that he was more intelligent than I was.

I will grant you one piece of advice for free.
In an argument or discussion, do not make thinks up that are simply not true.

If you glance back to post 55 ( erm your post it would seem) then it becomes rather apparent that it was in fact you who declared that you had the upper-hand with respect to intellectual superiority.

If you tell fibs then you will be found out....

ooh that was 2 pieces of advice... never mind.

No Post 55 is definitely accurate, and it still is considering that you insulted the OP without explaining your point of view at all.

I am not lying so there is nothing to be 'found out' about, but please keep to the thread because this is just wasting my time.

Saying 'all european countries' is a bit pointless, when countries like germany and switzerland have relatively high standards of living ( I would put germany above britain, in fact),
But they have authoritarian Socialist governments; they are balls-deep in the people's lives.

    That's no way to live.

No, I don't agree with this... I think Japan should be much nearer the top, possibly even number 1: does it not have the highest life expectancy out of the countries that you mentioned? I don't think that USA should be number one at all. I also disagree with Britain only being number 10, especially when you have put the Falkland Islands at number 8... And you have glossed over countries like France, Iceland, Spain, Norway etc, putting them at number 11...Sould France not be ranked higher than that? I definitely disagree with it being at number 11 whilst the USA is number 1
The French are greasy, lazy, socialist, cheese-eating surrender-monkeys. I wouldn't want to live there; especially when the people riot every time the government refuses to wipe their backsides for them

Well having lived in both america, germany and england I found germany the best in terms of standard of living, obviously this cannot be taken as fact though as its just my experience, though it is also just a really nice place and the transport infrastructure is top notch

dear oh dear, I really have to spell everything out for you don't I.
In post 91 you made the claim that I had declared that I was more intelligent then you; however in post 55 it becomes perfectly clear that it was in fact you who had claimed that you were in fact the one with the greater intelectual concepta.
    capiche??

In post 50 you insinuated that you were more intelligent than me by stating you didn't want to 'waste time' on me. Now I think that you can probably count and therefore you would realize that post 50 comes before post 55.

So if you just tried to spell everything out for me then I think you may have problems spelling.

edit - Look I know you are very intelligent my point was that there are other intelligent people on this forum as well and that you should stick your head out of your butt and involve in some proper debate instead of hiding behind a facade of intellectual superiority. Now lets end this BS and get back onto the thread topic.

aye aye aye, the danger of jumping to conclusions.
I never commented on your intelligence in post 50. "waste time" has nothing to do with intellectual capacity; I wrote that that because I find you tedious and boring.
Being the fairly magnanimous sort of chap that I am, I do forgive you.

    well, they're pretty stinking rich.
There's a difference between being rich and developed though. Besides, there's a lot of poor people there as well. From what I'm told, places like Dubai are great to live if you have money but very bad if you don't.

    No!

US not in 1st place and South Africa (where I'm from) has beautiful natural beauty, etc., but should not be in de top 10. Too many ppl live below the bread line and it is such an unequal society....First and Third World elements in one country.

You'd be surprised to learn of the reality in UAE. Having lived there for 3 years, I can tell you the infrastructure is awful (they don't have a sewage system, trucks come and suck poo out of the corner of streets every morning). The human rights are practically non-existant, their justice system is crazy. For the small population of UAE nationals that actually live there, are having to suffer with the invasion of western expats taking over the heritage and culture. For the expats that are there, basically have no rights at all. Doesn't matter if you're a top banker or a construction labourer, if they want they can send you back home for no reason before you can say UAE  Good quality of life? I don't think so.
That is very interesting to know! i knew very little and just assumed!

    Canada lower than USA?

    Israel higher than Britain?

Other European countries better than the rest of the world?

South Africa even in the list?

I was half-expecting Jamaica to be in the list with that pattern...

Where are the likes of Iberia and the Caribbean?
