I LOVE Motown. Not enough people our age appreciate it, imo. So tragic.

I couldn't agree more. I'm always trying to get people into it.

Although I went to a friend of a friends 18th about a year back, and the music was basically Motown all night, was brilliant.

Oh wow. Lucky! I bet that was awesome.

I'm always trying to get people into it, too. But sadly, my friends prefer the likes of Lady Gaga over Smokey Robinson or The Isley Brothers.

I  Motown soooo much!

I was brought up on the genre as it was always being played in my house. In fact, the first song I believe I ever remember hearing was "Ben" by the young Michael Jackson. I can't have been much older than 3 at the time.

I still listen to it a hell of a lot now, and probably appreciate it more now I'm that much older.

Does soul count? Or is that a bit too much before? But it is Chicago soul I like the most. Aretha doesn't really need to be mentioned as she is too obvious.
The work Holland, Dozier and Holland did for the Motown label was IMMENSE. All of the songs are amazing. Such a long string of hits must show how hot motown was with them. Nothing without HDH I'm afraid.
