Southampton or QM for Economics & Finance !

Hi i have two offers from Southampton (ABB) and Queen Mary, London (BBB) to study Economics and Finance and would like to know which one has a better chance of getting a job and reputation.

The uni table are very confusing as some list uni in top ten whilst other much lower

Im currently in my second year of a-levels and am predicted ABB region for the subjetct im doing. My GCSEs are some As and Bs, mostly Bs though...

I did not apply to uni at the top like Bristol Manchester York as i felt i probably dont have much chance in getting in as its rated one of the best. Also i used those choice up earlier.

I want to do a career in chartered accounancy in the future and i feel doing this degree will just help.

Any views which uni to go for or other unis i could apply to any that you would recommed considering my grade....??

I applied to both QM and soton for econ & fin and got rejections but got an UC offer from manchester so Im sorted.

My second choice was Soton- The econ department there have a very good rep aswell as the Uni- and its in an awesome town. One of my friends is on that course at soton and is finding it really difficult, (lots of maths) but considering your grades you should be fine. i don't think QM has such a good rep for economics, and if you think about the costs of london living in london Id choose Soton myself.

QM - thats not me being biased at all :lol
I would of thought a London uni would of been better considering its location to the City and that especially applies to QM.
Southampton is not bad thought, but thats in other depts. I would go for QM.

Considering i want a career in finance e.g. chartered accountant, i was wondering which uni would have a better chance in applying to the ACCA etc ?

QM is good, but cost of living is higher, employment falls below Soton ( as I have read on TSR and found out from research..).

What about soton, any views on the course, the economics department and surrounding areas ?

Well Southampton is probably better -- you'll have more fun there. I'm sitting with Dave here (he's an I-Bank intern) and he went to London, says "London has a great nightlife but Soton is a lot cheaper. Job prospects shouldn't be too different, but Soton's probably a little better."
