I hate it when American TV shows depict the British as either top-hat wearing, carriage-riding, obsessive tea drinkers, or cockney, adolescent chimney sweeps.

Johnny Depp's accent in Sweeney Todd is really good, and Gwyneth Paltrow does the accent justice in a lot of films...but god, this has got to be the worst portrayal of a British accent by anyone - Josh Hartnett's 'Yorkshire' accent:

    He's not even trying...

Edit: Just found a hilaaarious Scrubs clip of the Janitor attempting a Brit accent

Why do Americans insist we all sound like posh South Africans or Australians?
Not really, lol... you haven't heard a posh South African until you've heard a Sandton accent... they sound nothing alike.

Oh yes, I'm Orf to put the car in the garishh that smells like Kofee

Edit - I love how she tries to educate American's on the British Dialect but says 'I've been to the grocery market/store', no British person says store or grocery market, it's a shop. Silly woman.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nqXhY8uIiYk - This video of French for Geordie's is genius.

What a stupid women. I don't speak anything like that. I'd imagine any American who came to Britain speaking like that would be left in the gutter by a bunch of chavs.

I meant more like it was mixing Queen's English with a Saffa accent, just sounds weird.

Oh my God, that's the worst accent ever. Why is it that Americans don't realise that there are LOADS of accents with 'Britain', nor that we don't all sound like the bloody queen!

    Euggghhhhhh. How desperately vulgar.

"British Dialect"? ERM... why did she miss out the word dialect on Standard American, and emphasise it after "British"?

And it's quite clearly a (not brilliant) attempt at an RP accent, not British (doesn't exist) nor "English".

That football hooligan film with elijah wood has a pretty shocking example of a terrible accent in.
I think its called green street?

One of the guys in that trying to do a cockney accent, My god. Its like an australian/cockney/newcastle hybrid. I dont even know where hes actually from, but its terrible.

The one in the cream jacket. Thats not even the best example of how terrible it is, but its all I could find.
    definately.

When I watched the film I felt really embarrassed on his behalf, jjust an atrocious piece of imitation...
