i recently signed up for a work experience placement in a pharmacy, but instead i got one in a doctors surgery because my application was too late. Now i am stuck because i want to do pharmacy at Uni and working at pharmacy would be better for that than working in a doctors surgery. I Was just wondering whether if i arrange for some pharmacy work experience during the christmas holidays, this would have any affect on my university application, because i want to write on my personal statement that i worked in a pharmacy, however we have to do our personal statements and send them off by october/septemember time whereas my work experience would be during the christmas holidays. What should i do ?

Do the pharmacy work experience. It is more relevant to your course.

Even opting for the doctor's surgery would certainly help with your career prospects

Don't worry about it. I was in the same position. If you just put somewhere on your application about your work experience in the Drs and say that you're looking to gain more experience before starting any prospective uni course! I did my work experience in a vet surgery making up prescriptions, watching ops etc. and they saw it all as good work experience!

Do the work experience you have been offered anyway. It'll be worth more than you think You can suggest on your PS that you have applied for work experience at a pharmacy... which you have. It shows willing, and that you want experience of the course you have chosen. Don't forget to mention anything from the Drs surgery which is relevant to your application. Then if you get an interview you could mention anything you do over xmas in that
