Search these artists on YouTube or something for a taste:
    - Astor Piazzolla
    - Al Di Meola
    - Paco De Lucia (only one I can be bothered linking :p: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2oyhl...eature=related)

    - Laurindo Almeida (played some funky ass Bossa with the Modern Jazz Quartet)
    - Fernando Sor (whose music was resurrected by Andres Segovia)
    - Celedonio Romero
    - Federico Moreno Torroba
    - Joaquin Rodrigo
    - Agustín Barrios Mangoré
    - Isaac Albeniz

    Should keep you occupied :p:

All of those abbove seem pretty good. I'll add Rodrigo y Gabriela, a Spanish guitar duo who do some interesting modern stuff and have a couple of albums out. It's also worth checking out http://www.amazon.co.uk/Guitar-Trio-...8100526&sr=8-1 , it's brilliant.

Ry Cooder and his Cuban , also Mexican stuff is defo worth a listen. So is Antonio Carlos Jobim, Brazilian and Buena Vista, cuban also. Don't know any specifically spanish acts. There is also Los Lobos, a Los Angeles/Mexican band.

The Concierto de Aranjuez should keep you busy for a while (try to get John Williams' interpretation).

As for individual pieces, most people know Asturias but Issac Albeniz - look for Julian Breame's or Andres Segovia's interpretation.

Also, one of the best pieces of Spanish guitar could well be Libra Sonatina I. India by Roland Dyens (at least it is my favourite).

As far as artists with amazing repertoires go, Carlos Montoya is pretty high up, Andres Segovia is one of the all time best.

This is what I know - hope it helps.

Not exactly, the Spanish and Mexican music, but still deserves listening to.

I would also recommend other flamenco guitarists:

    - Vicente Amigo
    - Gerardo Nunez
    - Pepe Romero
    - Carlos Montoya

Not bad music, but frankly they sound like pop music, especially when comparing to such guitarists like Paco de Lucia.
