Mother blames school for pregnant daughters aged 12,14 and 16

i read this in the paper yesterday.

a mom in a decent 3 bed semi has 3 daughters who got pregnant aged 12,14 and 16. one of them had it with a 38 yr old man. she blames the school for not giving sex ed early enough. what do u think? they r the only kids in the school who r mothers. i think sex ed encourages sex.

in any case, they get £31000 in benefits and dont want careers.Kidscape (charity) says the mom is responsible and child-neglect for the two underage ones as well as abuse.

It's not just the school's responsibility, it's the parents' just as much as it is the teachers. I agree with Kidscape. Three teenage pregnancies in one family is just taking the micky! Something's definitely wrong there.

Its the parents. The school has certain responsibilities but it all comes back to the parents.
I think we're omitting some responsibility from the kids.

Granted the 12 year old probably saw her elder sisters doing the same and felt there was nothing wrong, but they are in control of their own actions.

It is obviously a combination of everybody who has influence in their lives!

doesnt the mum think it's a tad suspect that the only mothers in a school with failing sex ed are her children?? its clearly her fault, or at best her daughters own fault (well, maybe the older ones, not the 12 year old, shes just a baby!).

Sex is going to happen anyway, I hate to break it to you. Do you seriously think that refusing to teach kids about contrception, etc., is going to stop them doing it? The only thing it would stop is safe sex.

Damn right. The sex ed. on her part seems sorely lacking, put it that way.

You can't really expect a 12 year old to be in control of what she is doing regarding sex...im surprised she even knows what sex is!

It's definitely down to the parents, they are the ones who have to teach their children and set an example. The school obviously has a part to play with the sex ed but its far more the responsibility of the parents, 3 daughters all mums by the age of 16? There's obviously something wrong there - 1 of them was only 12 when she got pregnant!!

and also the 12 year old was the one to get pregnant first (jus read that)

I'm not. It's hard to miss it.

Although it would be admittedly hard to know all there is to know about it, and doing it safely: that's where the education has to play a role.

I think the mother is enterly to blame, if it was just one of her kids then fair enough it could be a one off, but for three of them to have kids so young somthing is very wrong.

Of course we have to teach kids about sex, they need to know. However we also need to bring up kids so they they have a childhood, and a childhood is not shagging everything on the estate.

More to the point 12 year olds should not be having sex. I have no problems with 16 year olds etc shagging each other if they know how to do it safely but 12 years old is much much too young.

I don't think I knew what sex properly was when I was 12, all I knew is its somthing adults to do to make babies.

Nice sterotype. :p:

Although, if anything teaches them about sex, it's society. And we can't change that...
everyone is looking for someone to blame, but all ive got to say is atleast they took resposibitly and had the children

But the cynics would think the only reason they have kept them is becuase of the huge amount of benefits they get. I am not saying thats why they did I don't know them. But do you think they would have kept them if there was a cut of point after so many childs for the benefits you get?
