Has anyone else taken this step> Im going from Citalopram 40mg to Prozac 20-40 mg.

I saw the psychiatrist for the first time today, and he is switching me over for 4 weeks, and if no improvement, onto Venlafaxine or Escitalopram.

Can anyone offer me any advice/guidance/wisdom?

    Thanks

I did the opposite, for me, Escitalopram's been the best of a bad bunch, Prozac played havoc with my sleeping pattern, but to each his own, and the one that suits you the best is completley personal.
All I can say is that the side effects might well be **** for the first few weeks, but they will go away :yep:
    Best wishes

I've been on both, but my switch was Prozac to Citalopram. It really depends on what side-effects you had when starting Citalopram, cos as it's an SSRI still, you may get some of the same coming back, or none at all if you're lucky.

    Basically ditto this

Hopefully you won't notice too much of a difference when you switch over

antidepressants can take up to, and even above, 8 weeks to start working so don't feel too let down that you haven't felt any different yet.

A 4 week trial? I wouldn't think that'd be enough time to decide if the drug is going to give a response. Might want to ask him/her about that.

I've been on all four of those meds, and the best for me was venlafaxine (well, i say that. I've only been on Prozac for a week now). Venlafaxine made a considerable positive difference to my mental health and the side effects I had were very mild. However, it's notorious for it's horrible withdrawals (and they are horrid)
