    Hi All,

I sent off my application to join the RAF on 25th June and got the usual email...thanks for your enquiry someone will contact you soon for initial interview etc etc
    I applied online (wish i hadn't now?).
I was just wondering how long it usually takes for them to contact you? Should i chase them up or would this be a mistake?

    Thanks guys

Go to an AFCO - you'll need to anyway.

Based on what people post on here, there seem to be a lot of delays if you apply on line - I'd certainly chase after four weeks of nothing.

When i applied online i had to put 4 jobs i wanted to do, but having read up about them all on here i prefer one of the other 4 instead of my first choice.
You think they'd be ok with that? I think i'll just don the suit and go down anyway :-/

Of course they'll be OK with that.

As far as I'm aware after applying online they should just invite you to your local AFCO for an informal chat, where you can discuss your choices etc.

As long as you have your choices finalized before your first assessed interview, as they will be asking you why you want to do each of the jobs you put down, and you need to answer them both honestly and convincingly.

    thanks guys!
for officer jobs do you have to do a degree (sponsored or not) before you can start?
I've read somewhere that they could sponsor you and you need a degree, but on the website it says you just need a-levels and you can gain a degree in there

It depends on the branch you apply for.

For example, a specialist branch such as Medical, you would require a degree. However most officer branches require just 2 A-levels.

Check the RAF Careers website against any branches that interest you for the full details of entry criteria.
