    its been a while since i have done these, and well my notes are not helping at all, and i'm just confusing my self even more

    Differentiate the following with respect to x

    y=x2

    that come out as dy/dx=2X1

    if i was to do y=5X-4
    would that be dy/dx=-20X-5

    thank you

    wouldn't it become dy/dx=-20X-5?
    as you lose one from the power so -4 - 1 = -5?
    i might be completly wrong as i haven't done differentiation since my C2 exam at the begining of june
