So many you couldn't mention one?
So many that you'd feel bitterly disappointed (and non-the-wiser) should I have only mentioned one.

Why? Because they take Rousseau's views that property rights are immoral if left unregulated. That's merely one motivation - but it does no good to generalise lefties. Which I guess was the reason for the hint of contempt in my dismissive and vague post.

Maybe a feeling of social responsibility? Nah, you're not going to buy that - it's true though.

Something that'll fit in your worldview: My aching, bleeding, beating heart. Suck on that. Pathetically worriying over the state of the world today, when clearly I should resign to a self-centered worldview and dig my nails into the tender flesh on the backs of people around me and start climbing.

Seriously though, I've never needed anything. The fact that I can study in another country is testament. The very reason I can do that though, is the welfare system here, which will support me financially throughout. And which have supported me in the past, and to which I paid 30% percent of my earnings last year. Feels good man.

The lefty claims every move is motivated by fairness and equality. I find most of their policies quite the opposite. Would you agree with the tennis example? In fact, you've all but admitted that it made things less fair and equal.
Dude, your TOTALLY RELEVANT tennis-related illustration fundamentally proved to me that Marx was wrong about capitalism being exploitative and alienating.

Basing your views on 'leftism' on New Labour is a bit silly too, they're about as left as my right ball.

What do you mean what motivates them? Liberalism = more liberty.

    What's not to love?

well as somebody else pointed out, males earn £6M whilst females earn £5M. As i am not a follower of tennis, i do not know if this is true or not. However, if it is, then it is a fair system.
but most lefties actually fight for something worthwhile, not equal rights for already well-paid sports players.

Men and women are paid the same in tennis (the Wimbledon prize money is £500k for men and women's singles). I was saying although a male player may be considered to be "worth" £1m more than his female counterpart (he plays for longer and is more popular), it's nothing of an issue because the players would be millionaires regardless of who's worth more.

Wouldn't You be the first to complain if your colleague was paid more for working less hours? Because I would! That's the difference between the lefty and others. The lefty is a hypocrite and a liar. There is no debating that.

They're just headaches, getting in the way of reason and common sense. They're also hypocrites who wouldn't give you the steam off their piss. Talentless fools. But what drives them? Apart from public sector pensions and vendettas!
They aren't necessarily talentless. It's not as if intelligent people haven't in the past been political 'lefties'.

From my observations (which may be incorrect), left-wingers tend to have decided on their political beliefs before examining right wing political theory in more detail, that is, before trying to understand why right wingers believe what they do, and the logical reasoning behind it. The right-wing political philosophers were and are not all socially 'irresponsible'. They have merely sought other ways of achieving similar goals to those of left wingers. Of course, some of the goals may be different.

I'm not entirely sure what you mean by 'lefties' though I suspect you are only referring to social liberals.
