When applying for a Careers Development Loan, how accurate do we need to be?

I'm applying for a few universities to do my Masters, though am hoping to get into Southampton. As such, I'm applying using expenses with Southampton in mind but even then I don't know the exact price I'll be paying for accomodation (if I even get a place), don't know the laptop I plan to by, don't know how much travel will cost me etc.

Do you need a confirmed place at Uni before you apply? And if not, would they accept my approximate figures for each expense?

    Thanks

You can only approximate costs but use one of the ready reckoners around. You do need the offer though to apply.

    Ready reckoners?

So an offer is needed before a CDL is applied for?
Can you link me to where I can find more information on this

    Thanks for the response

as far as I remember you need the course code and the uni for the application for a CDL and the contact email to confirm your place on it.
Ready reckoners on costs of study are available at many university sites.
