I'm going to Nottingham to study psychology and Cognitive Neuroscience next year and I've received my reading list, but the price of the books are so costly. I'm just wondering if its worth it trying to buy a few of these books before I go, or just wait it out?

Yea, go to your 'local university', the Psychology department and do the reading - you probably won't be able to take the books out though.

Anyway, reading Psychology is tons of fun.

I mean are they going to be worth buying now to accompany me next year or should I just do some reading and wait til I get there to see if they're needed?

Things like Stats books for example.

Don't bother buying any books until you're actually at University.

You'll find you don't need 99% of them, and you can buy them off second/third year students once you've started.

dont bother getting them till you go as some of them won't be necessary, and you'll find that 3rd years will be sellin the books for cheap as well know i will be

firstly, great choice of course (I might be biased). I remember being sent a page long list of books I was advised to read, but I did absolutely nothing before I arrived, didn't buy a book until second year and still did pretty well. The library's pretty well stocked anyway.

some books will be worth buyin like the stats book for example, but personally i found there was even less need to buy books in 2nd year cuz if you wanna do well you need to look at journals/several books but like i said just wait till you get there, thats what i did and it was fine
