I think that the story of Robin Hood should not be told to children as it secretly spreads communism. The idea of a man STEALING from the rich and handing it out their wealth to uneducated peasants with the excuse that its "morally" right is disgusting. :woo:

Why should the peasants get money simply because they don't have as much as others? I believe in the stories they had a roof over their heads and food so why would they need anything else? They haven't done anything to earn anything more while Robin Hood stealed from random rich people. The stories underlying message is communistic in that it gives people a sense of entitlement to more than they deserve and if you don't have what you want then you should take it from someone that does.

The rich didn't do anything to gain their money either, most people just inherited it.

Well, the rich in this era are autocratic nobility who inherited their wealth rather than earnt it. So the rich in this case aren't shining beacons of capitalism either.

In most versions of Robin Hood, the people from whom he and his band of men steal from are seen to be corrupt and evil, taxing people beyond their means.

    In any case IT'S FICTIONAL.

So? What if the rich inherited their wealth, thats life. The poor shouldn't have a claim to it just because their poor. If I died I'd want my possessions to go to my children and I think I have the right to decide who I would want my things to go to. I wouldn't want my hard earned things to then go to strangers who don't deserve it either. I might as well not bother working hard because the poor who did nothing benefit from my hard work.

What rubbish, Robin Hood stole from the rich to give to the poor because of the tryanny and corruption of John. It wasnt because he was a dam communist it was because he was sick of John bleeding Nottingham dry. Peasents didnt have any money to start with because of the tax rate imposed, Robin was giving them what should have been thiers.

It spreads the wrong message though. Besides the sheriff and the Prince who taxed insanely he also stole from rich people who were simply passing through the woods. The poor peasants should have revolted and helped themselves instead of relying on aid from Robin Hood. The story is similar to how the government supports lazy unemployed dossers who refuse to work.

The peasants should have revolted and Robin Hood should have executed the Prince and sheriff. If you want anything in life you have to do it yourself. People who are in power are able to do what they please, this government takes inheritance tax from people when their family member dies and their property is worth a lot. Is that right that the government can take what a lot of people I presume would think is "morally" not theirs? But they can, and do because their in power and they make the laws, the laws neither morally right or wrong its just made by however has power. The peasants should have helped themselves and revolted instead of relying on Robin Hood who them their weekly benefits by stealing from whoever had money. If Robin Hood had executed Prince John from a distance with a bow and arrow and anyone else that supported him then they can make the rules as they please. The story plainly spreads communism by taking what is not yours.

The version where Robin hood goes to university, gets a job at middle management in some non-descript bank and then has a messy divorce and then contemplates his successful yet ultimately lacklustre life didn't take off too well.

    Besides, shoo troll.

In a little sense yes I'm trying to show how what Robin Hood did was communistic and if we can agree on that then we can also see how similar things the government does today are the same. I'm trying to draw similarities to show how what Robin Hood did was communistic , if people think its wrong for the government to give money to people who don't deserve it then how come people don't see how what Robin Hood did wasn't any better.

    1) people on benefits for the most part do deserve them...

    2) Robin Hood wasnt a communist, he was a disposesed noble.

    3) Its more an example of charity than communism

    4) The rich didnt and still to this day dont get their money through fair means, as all wealth is createed through the exploitation of others...

    5) Dont believe everything you read in the daily mail

    6) Whats wrong with communism?

This is absolutely ridiculous - stop telling that story because it promotes communism. So what if it promotes communism? There is a ****load of horse**** that promotes capitalism and I don't hear anybody complaining about that.

To revolt in the 12th century would have been rebellion against the crown. How can you expect a a class of uneducated peasents to rebel against the state ? This was medevil times i doubt any form of class conciouness had formulated, to ask the proletariat to rebel is absurd.

You say that Robin was a communist yet you advocate for a corrupt Prince and a callous Sheriff, who sat on thier throwns and took money from the poor- whist not helping them and keeping them subdugated. Does that not show communist tendancies.

Not possible peasents had no will to rebel.

The tale of Robin Hood is folklore and dates back to the 12th century. People obidently were living under the crown I doubt that communism even existed at this time in any strong form. Plus its a fairytale for children, i doubt that it was made for the purpose of spreading socalism, more for the benefit and enjoyment of the young.

Well as far as the story goes, or the Disney version at least, it was the fact that the rich and powerful were corrupt and extorting an inordinate amount of tax from the poor. Essentially, stealing from them.

Therefore, they where wrong and 'evil'.
