Do many people use exercise bikes here? Rowing machines and weights etc seem to be a lot more popular. But if you do use the bike, what sort of times or distances do you do? I've been using it more recently, generally 20min sessions. atm i'm doing around 12km per 20mins. How far would be good to aim for roughly? Is this quick / slow?
    Thanks

Thats a pretty standard speed, if anything a little bit slow? 12 km in 20 mins is obly 36 km/h which is just over 22 mph. And you dont have to contest the wind+road surfaces+hills. Though 20 mph outdoors on a real bike is pretty standard for someone of average fitness.

That said I tend to average 30-35 mph (35 with the wind) on my way to college.

the speed measurements on exercise bikes are wholly inconsitent, they're only useful for comparing against your own personal bests on that exact bike.

on the exercise bike I had a mad sprint barely scratched 20-21mph on the speedometer.

do more than 20 minutes though

On what type of bike? I couldn't keep that speed up on my mountain bike and I doubt many people could.

Its a custom build. Light aluminum frame, standard wheels, road suspension (Super hard, nearly non compressible), shimano gears. Bear In mind that Iv been biking 16 or 22 miles a day 5 days a week for a year now. Most sites put average road speed at 20mph though.
