I'll always be on the left, my only movement is likely to be whether I think small-state socialism can work better than large-state socialism (particularly in the context of large-scale industrial and urban societies like ours).

Yes, everyone is either 'left' or 'right' and they may not have any opinions of their own. You're just as bad.
Reminds me of the Chris Rock bit,

"Republicans are idiots, Democrats are idiots, anyone who makes up their mind before they hear the issue is an idiot."

That makes sense to me, to be honest. I don't agree that choosing a party is ignorant, but to presume what someone's opinion on an issue is is ridiculous. It reminds me if this Jeremy Clarkson (really) extract:

Teri was one of the most annoying people I’ve ever met because at no point in the day did she do or say anything even remotely surprising. From the moment you saw her hair, you could tell where she lived, what her friends looked like and that she almost certainly has the News of the World’s newsdesk on speed dial.

It’s the same deal with those thin-lipped angry-looking women you see in Caffe Nero reading The Guardian. You know everything about them before even saying hello. And then there was the berk in the Boxster that cruised past me in Docklands last week. I saw the parting in his hair and knew he’d have a plasma television, an appointment to play squash that night with someone called Dom, and no carpets.

Don’t these people realise that it’s much more fun to pick and mix opinions rather than buying a sort of compilation album. It’s why I’m so supportive of the European Union and have donkeys. Because these are the last things anyone would expect.

As Winston Churchill once said, "Anyone who isn't a Liberal before the age of 30 has no heart .... and anyone who is still a Liberal after the age of 30 has no brain".

I hope to remain intelligent and reasonable as long as I live, so I shall hopefully remain towards the political and economic left.

If not I'll just become another cynical, hatefilled ****. :'(

Also: Just because Winston Churchill says something doesn't mean it's true, you silly sausages.

I don't know about that but I know I'll never be on the right.
