I will be moving into a shared house in September with 3 other students, and I was just wondering which is the best way to pay bills? We will have to pay electric, gas and water ourselves. I've heard that having a joint account can be difficult if someone has a bad credit rating or won't pay, because then it can ruin everyone else's credit rating. What has everyone in this situation found worked best?

Usually with gas and electric (not sure about water) you can add everyone's name on the account. It is up to you how you would like to pay (direct debit, pay on receipt of bill, payment cards or prepayment) maybe have someone in charge of the bills who keeps an eye on them and collects money in advance for payment when due.

I work for a gas and electric company so if you have any questions just quote me.
