    What the title says

At your university, do you particularly hang around with people in the year above and/or below you? Do people have a gf/bf in the year above or below? Or do they kind of steer clear of each other?

Surely it'd be pointless to 'steer clear' of different years since there are many different ages of people in all of them?

Yes, there is some overlap in terms of societies. If you don't join societies then your course and accommodation friends are most likely going to be from your own year. My gf is 2 years below

Yup, especially if you're active in the student councils, student union and societies.

I didn't even realise about half the people in my college halls aren't in the same year as me. Age seems to make very little difference.

It depends, if you're at a smaller college or in clubs or socs the chances are that you will. If you don't get involved, guess what...

Through working for my union and being part of a couple of clubs and socs I have friends from second year through to 12 years post-grad.

If you join sport teams and societies then yes. If you just stick with housemates/coursemates then no.

Some people on my course are friendly with the ones from the years above us...it's art though, so our studios are kinda connected and we share the same lectures (visiting artists etc) so it's easier for us. Plus we have these fundraising parties where all the years get together too.

I forgot about the societies! Yeah, that's the best place to meet others from different years.

Yes I've socialised with other years. One of my friends started going out with a third year while she was a fresher and still is.

Yes certainly. Some of them even like me.Some not.
But mostly we are in good relations.
Unfortunately I have so many young friends that sometimes can't find time to talk to all of them.
Anyway I'm grey cardinal. If I advice them something they all always listen.
Anyway they all know about me too much.I would prefer not so much.
    Different legends...
Some of them surprise me when they come and ask:"What you would advice me in this deal?"or "Is that truth that you choose this girl like your new girlfriend?"

If there are really something new and interesting I always recognize about it first...I have ears and eyes everywhere. If someone professor will say something about me I'll hear it anyway and say to others afterwards:"Is he good professor or not."
We Russians are so.Like fieldmarshal Suvorov said:"Find alive example and try to become him and even better."

I hang out with people in the year above and even more students in the year above, but I think that's coz my subject is pretty small. It doesn't tend to happen in bigger subjects, from what I've heard

Yeah because most of the new committee on my society are older than me. I will probably be making friends with new freshers as well next year, because I need to recruit 'em!
