You won't have to get 3 As in August as not everyone has them when they apply so don't be put off if you get a B or something. Secondly, Oxford know their course is unique so don't get hung up on tailoring your statement to their course. I'm afraid I can't help with the politics course bit though as I know nothing about politics

You could look at doing a joint honours between two of those three subjects at several different universities - look for politics and economics or politics and philosophy, or politics and history joint if that's the kind of thing you're interested in. Many universities will have set degree courses with two subjects. You could always look at International Relations as a course - that may include some of the aspects you're looking for. Other than the usual London Unis (LSE, UCL, KCL) and Oxbridge, I know Nottingham has several respected courses in this field. Some of my friends who want to take History and Politics or International Relations have also taken a shine to the course at St. Andrews, Exeter and Durham. Don't worry about tailoring your PS to PPE, as long as the other subjects you apply to are broadly related, it shouldn't be too much of a problem

The trouble with politics degrees are there are very few jobs where a politics degree is needed. The same with history. If you aren't 100% sure I reckon you should take a year old and give your time to decide, go travelling or something.
