Has anyone here ever purchased items from DinoPC.com ? They seem like a new company in North-West London since 2007, and I'd just like to know people's past experience of them, are they reliable? Was their after-sales support good?

Atm I'm deciding between two custom builds from their website:

    • AMD Athlon Dual Core X2 7750 AM2+ (about £320 after customising)
AMD Phenom Quad Core X4 9650 AM2+ (about £460 after customising)

Does the pros of Phenom Quad over Athlon Dual justify the higher price? From what I've read, the 4 physical cores of the Phenom are only useful for certain things like rendering and encoding, as not all software takes full advantage of it. I'll mainly be using the computer for multi-tasking between Microsoft office applications, Photoshop and internet browsers, and for uni work like Solidworks and MATLAB.

Also the Phenom's motherboard has extra memory slots (upto 8GB) while the Athlon has 4GB max, so I'd be future-proofing myself.

Would be grateful for any feedback.

I've seen overclockers.co.uk, but for my purposes at least DinoPC.com is more customisable and the prices are slightly cheaper for these system bundles.

btw anyone got any idea if a Phenom Quad Core would need a bigger PSU, say 700W instead of 500W, to function more effectively?

Email them, tell them what your budget is and what you will use the system for and they will send you back their suggested spec. You can then let them know of any changes you would like them to make to that and once you are happy with a spec then they build it. They are fairly well priced too.
