Hey werent sure where to post this but anyways.

I need stuff to be able to write about in my personal statment. I have been nominated for head girl so I might not even get it but I know its a good opportunity. The only thing is Im not a good public speaker. Im not really sure what a head girl does exactlly. Do you think its a great thing to put on your personal statement.

Not really. They're more interested in why you want to do the course.

Just being head girl means nothing on your PS. But if you become head girl and it makes you a better person for X and Y reasons, that would be worth putting on your PS.

Anything like being head girl is good to show that you can step up to the mark when you need to.

Don't worry about the public speaking, once you do it a few times you'll realise it's not that bad!

practice. and if you are head girl then you are forced to practice, both for it and "on the job".

    good luck.

It'll be good experience for speaking in public anyway, regardless of university.

i was SO bad at public speaking before and i was unbelieavably shy. but being heas girl actually brought me out of myself SO much. i'm much more confident as a result, and i did felt it benefitted me as a person a great deal. because of that, i do think that it was a useful and slightly beneficial part of my personal statement, as i said what i had gained from it. it isn't everything though, and in my entire personaly statement it was about 2 sentences. like others have said, they want to know why you want to do the course and why you are suited to it more than anything else but it certainly wouldn't harm you.

I'm/was head girl. (Last speech tomorrow and last duties on Tuesday :'()

To some its a badge and some its an oppourtunity to shine. If you can put on your PS that due to your role your personality was benifited in such and such a way then it will make an affect on your application. But if you just put i was head girl it will just be a waste of letters.

Being head girl is what you make of it. Its not all speeches. (I've made 3 + stood on chairs and shouted at the prefects) As long as your outgoing enough you should get on fine.

If you get offered it, go for it!
