You like putting words into people's mouths. It is not legal for any hospital in America to turn anyone away who needs life saving treatment. If you don't have insurance then yes you need to pay for it yourself and this can cost a lot of money sometimes. But in that case it was most likely your own fault for not buying insurance. It is no one else's but your own responsibility to make sure you have cover. If you're too poor then there are programmes like Medicaid etc. I've read stats that the American government pays for over half of all American healthcare costs. I'll rake them out if you like.

How is that in anyway an argument for private healthcare? saying its over half funded by taxpayers?

And usually people say **** like this untill they realise they forgot to pay their premiums and need helath care.

The healthcare system in the US sucks? Well, I know if I needed treatment, I'd much rather go to hospital there than here.

There is no excuse for being denied treatment in the US. If you're too poor then the government pays it for you.
No, Id go to the place where I'm 100% going to get treated tbh...

Fairly sure it doesnt unless its an emergency.

Your reading comprehension is less than that of my four year old cousin.

You've got to be responsible for yourself. I can see why people who are too forgetful/uncaring about these sort of things like the idea of other people paying for their healthcare.

''American healthcare is good because it lowers taxes and means we dont have to pay taxes for people who dont take self responsibility..............but over half of it is funded by the American Government''

Yes...I am the one with the trouble reading.

You've got to be responsible for yourself. I can see why people who decided to pay rent and buy a car to take their children to school instead of healthcare because they couldnt afford both, like the idea of other people paying for their healthcare.
There I fixed it for you.

u cant expect him to change everything in months... its just not possible.

The whole economic problem started because americans wanted to be fancy and live in big houses where they cant really afford =_= it was their fault. George Bush decided to be an idiot and instead of helping resolve the problem he went to war and lost badly. Barrack Obama is trying to fix this and now his people are getting impatient, so to tell you the truth. Americans are a problem to the the earth.

Fact of the day: Did you know that America consumes 4% of the oil/petrol in the world? 4%!!! thats a **** load of OIL!!! This happened because americans like SUVs that they cant afford :P

Its probably more, but if it is 4%, thats less than their fair share, americans make up 4.52% of the worlds population

Yes you very much are the one with trouble reading. People who cannot afford it are obviously going to be covered by the government, as is fair. However if you can afford it but don't have cover and something happens ... you have to pay for it yourself.

There I fixed it for you.
Again, you're totally wrong. If you are too poor to afford any transport whatsoever to take your children to school in then chances are you are covered by something like Medicaid. In Britain where we have much better pubic transport than America there is even less a chance of this happening.

    Exactly.

Everybody knew it was inevitable: health-care reform was always going to cause issues, with even some Democrats opposing it; Afghanistan is a long, hard struggle; and somehow the economy didn't immediately improve because of Obama-mania.

    How surprising.

(ETA: I reject this socialism notion as well; I've never understood how people can say he's a socialist.)
I think some of the steps taken to improve the economy have made it worse. When Roosevelt was president, the US government tried to spend itself out of a recession and it just made things worse. So why we would try to spend out of an economic crisis, when it has never worked throughout history? The only thing it will do is leave us with a ton of debt, which will make a recovery even more difficult. The stimulus was a failure.

As for the healthcare issue, don't forget that the 95% of us who have insurance love our healthcare. We get to enjoy the finest healthcare in the world. It's the 5% or so who have no insurance that are unhappy. I don't think any politician can get reelected catering to 5% of the population at the expense of the other 95%

I've met loads of Americans whose insurance companies have screwed them over and got out of paying for treatment. You definitely can't speak for 95% of Americans, you can only speak for yourself.

Polls show the vast, vast majority of Americans are happy with their healthcare. As for the Americans who are upset that their insurance company didn't want to pay for a hair transplant or breast implants, well, they wouldn't be able to get those things done in a country with socialized medicine either.

If voters get to choose between Republican Mitt Romney and President Barack Obama in the 2012 election, a new national poll suggests the race would be too close to call. I think Romney is the GOP's best shot, but who knows what could happen in the next few years.

Obviously I'm not talking about hair transplants or breast implants, I'm talking about cancer treatments. I'm interested though, can I see these polls?
