Don't know when I'll be in seeing as my medical has taken nearly 5 months, but if I get March 2010 I'll drop you a line haha!

Applied in Feb, had the option of starting in April, chose to finish College and start in August, which is nearly here and I've not be declared medically fit yet!

Hi i passed my fitness test on thursday and the AFCO told me that i am on the reserve list so if anyone drops out i have the chance to start earlier, but the corpral told me that i will be starting around april 2010. _iMack_ what is your nearest AFCO? and have you been told your exact dates of when you are starting? if not when will you be told your dates?

I think it all depends on what trade your going for, im guessing AMM is pretty jammed at mo hence why we have to wait so long. I was told i was quite lucky to get the date i did.

Hey u guys...i can confirm int an is intelligence analyst. Thats my chosen career! I had my PRTC 2 weeks ago and its a slice of pi$$ providing u do exactly what ur told when ur told.

I had to wait 14 weeks from being passed medically fit till having my specialist interview...it can take longer. Some guys i spoke to Started their application last augus and are starting at the same time as me. Madness!

The worst thing is u wont have ur final interview until the week before u go away...so u will have handed ur notice in at work etc and could still get rejected. The AFCO's don't seem to give a **** how ur life is impacted. U are just a number and i'm guessing thats a good mentality to have in mind when u start at halton.

I have 7 weeks to go before i head down there and my knee is playing up delaying my training! Frustrated.com! Guess this is what happens when u leave applying for the RAF until u turn 26. Falling to pieces!

If anyone wants to know anything, don't hesitate to ask.

i passed my PJFT on the 24th July and have got to wait about 20 weeks for my specialist interview!! (Dec 14th)

i have always thought it is very unlikely to fail the final interview??? guess i could be wrong but i thought it was more just a recap of everything you know and if you are still committed to the RAF?

Waybigal - How did you find the specialist interview? thats my next stage in the application process and was just wondering if you thought there might be anything worth mentioning about it?

    thanks

    Hey Rafia

It is actually possible to fail ur final interview. U have to retain the knowledge u picked up originally and that from PRTC. Your commitment will be questionned and i have this security stage which none of you guys have which is causing me grief atm.

Once i was passed medically fit i continued to call and pester the AFCO personnel because if it was left up to them i would have gone months without knowing.

The testing...hmm make sure u turn up smart...thats for sure. U will have to give a 5 min presentation on urself explaining why u wana join the airforce...whatever you do, DO NOT say u are joining because u have a dead end job/Don't know what to do with yourself/you're dad insisted. They will hate that and those that did have been dissapointed. There were around 14 attending the specialist interview and only 5 of us got through so its not to be taken lightly although if u have a good head on you very little prep will be needed.

Make sure u touch up on your maths - simultaneous equations and quadratic functions particularly. They will ask you a couple of questions on binary code so if you can learn that it will pick u up some easy marks. The maths test is out of around 25 (i think) and the report is around 35 (can't remember) and is the most important part.

In the report feel free to write whatever you want but YOU MUST BACK THIS UP WITH EVIDENCE AND LOGIC. For example if you state the whole in the bridge was approximately 40-60ft you must provide reason for this. If there are identifiable vehicles for instance you can say they are ___ long and this would fit 4/5/6 times into the whole.

They are looking to see you are logical more than anything else. You must think everytime before u speak...i got grief from not saying enough in the group tasks but trust me its better than saying something daft!
