Im 22, by the time I start I'll be 23! I first applied in january this year so it would have taken me a year in total to go from my first chat to actually going away to train, not bad by the sounds of it! I'm looking forward to it only thing is I'm bored right now and have ages to wait until it comes round! my jobs onlky seasonal which sucks! Good to hear from a few of you, especially those of you going down in march 2010! Guess I'll meet you folks there! if anyone who's going down at the same time wants to add me to msn its [email protected] (hope I dont get weirdo's adding me!) you folks all seem alright though!

oh yeah and the final interview is just a check up on how you feel about the whole thing, is it at the end of the 9 weeks or before?? I never even got a letter saying i'd passed my interview, just a letter saying are you free for PRT. I'll take that as a "you passed your interview" what made you guys wanna join?

I never got a letter saying "am i free" they just called me with dates and said you wont hear from us now for a while until nearer the time with instructions.....makes me feel like a 007 agent...lol

lol i shouldnt worry to much about the mc donalds waybigal apparently they feed you between 4,000 - 5,000 calories aday due to the PT. I was chatting to a guy i met yesterday who went in as a WSOp and he was telling me about the gasing experience you have to go through during the GDT part of RT. Not Nice!!

Waybigal i know you will be really busy but would be nice if you could give us a little insight when your there or after you finish and let us know exactly what weve got to look forward too

Also wanna say good luck for your RT you have always got another knee...lol

Yep...one of the things ul learn in the raf...the best split for a broken leg is your other leg lol

No way will it be 4k-5k calories. I had 3 meals there and that was far off the mark i'm afraid to say.

I will post as much as time allows me when i'm there but for the first 3 weeks i'm expecting hell so unlikely. Nice to keep people in the know...will try and not put too much wind up ur sails so-to-speak ;p

4 to 5 thousand calories! what! I eat less than 2000 a day so I'm gonna be stuffed! You folks with all your prf's and your rt's I have not idea what some of it means so you must have military backgrounds cause I dont! Do we have any new march 2010 starters yet?

Glad this post is going well, and yeah thanks for giving us halton info! I dunno how im gonna take the whole thing, I hear there's a bunker there and I work in a bunker now so I'm looking forward to hiding in there!

Trust me imack...ur guna need it. On ur feet most of the day having to wear heavy kit...whether or not you eat 4-5k calories u will definitely burn that.

Neither of us have militray backgrounds as you can tell from our ages but if you are thinking about applying i suggest u start reading up now! P.S. RT = Recruit training (9weeks at halton).

I'm sure there are bunkers at most RAF bases...don't worry about that

Hey everyone.
I was just reading through the thread..
Waybigal, I'm applying for Int A aswell. Just waiting to be booked on the spec int, which is taking ages! I know there's not any slots available until Nov' which is frustrating. First went in to the AFCO in Feb, didn't realise it would take so long. Ha, that's my moaning done.
Well done on passing all the tests etc! Oh and I'm 23...so glad to know there's a few older people applying

Ah what a bummer. I'm waiting for Criminal History checks to come back from USA...so there's not much I can do to speed it up either. I'll hope to get one early December then Good luck with yours though. Best way to see it though is that you still have plenty of time to prepare for it, that's the bright side I've been trying to re-learn maths and teach myself binary...bit tricky. hows your prep going?

yep i suppose that is the up-side to it ... 4 months of prep!!

i have very briefly looked over a few things ... such as the intelligence structure and photo analysis ... in about a months time i will get onto the maths to give myself a boost in that!! Suppose i better start teaching myself binary haha!!

good luck in yours aswell!!!!

oh and thanks Waybigal for the info!

Not a problem. Just make sure u are familiar with how to write a proper report. This will carry the maximum marks on your paper and decide whether ur going to be an int an.

My security clearance still hasn't come through but the AFCO confirmed that i could start without it. This is called a '308-Alpha'.

The worst part comes when if you don't get clearance...you've done all of the training and then get booted out/have to do a job u don't wana do.

Again quadratic functions and simultaneous equations.

There is a bar on site at chicksands when u have ur specialist interview. I had about 6 sherberts before i passed out in the quaters...some carried on till midnight (stuuupid) the night before the tests. As nice as it will be to bond with people and have a laugh i suggest you all take the sensible option and hit the hay early doors. (yep i am this old now)

For the DV clearance. Very little is said about it afterwards [by people who've done it, that is]. It's more a question of "if you're going to go through it, you'll soon find out".
